Darren Weale interviews actor Oliver Boot ahead of the play The Mirror Crack'd, playing at Bromley's Churchill Theatre from 22nd to 26th November. Oliver plays Inspector Craddock, who will be investigating together with the iconic Miss Marple in this murder mystery from the Queen of Crime, Agatha Christie.
Oliver talks about the role of Detective Inspector Craddock, the set, Agatha Christie's legacy, and shares a lovely thought, "I could do this forever, it's such a great play."

The discussion covers numerous topics from Pengemas to the Penge Festival, the 'brilliant sense of community' in Penge, the local Foodbank, and Ellie's casework as an MP. She relates her journey to becoming an MP, which gives her 'never a dull moment', and her role as shadow Justice Minister. With that workload, it is hardly surprising that we talk about Ellie's work-life balance, and about her being a woman in parliament.

We hear from Cllr Simon Jeal, Chair of Penge Festival and Millie Knight, Chair of the Friends of Cator and Alexander Park. It is Black History Month, and we interview Bromley-resident and Founder of the Black Heroes Foundation, Joyce Fraser OBE. She talks about their upcoming play, The Story of Claudia Jones, at the Canada Water Theatre on 15th October. Tickets here. We have Zeenat's regular affirmation, and, ahead of the Bromley Volunteering Fair on 11th October, we share a brief interview with Don Burford, Vice-Chair of Bromley, Lewisham, and Greenwich MIND, when he received an award at the Bromley Volunteering Awards earlier this year. One of them, Mercedes Yearley, has started Quest Soul Theatre, a non-performance group to boost mental health, based in West Wickham. We hear from Joe at the Bridge House Theatre in Penge, discuss what to choose from the Library of Things in The Glades shopping centre, and talk about upcoming events from The Billy Walton Band (US) at the Beaverwood Club in Chislehurst on 4th October to Beckenham Business Day on 2nd November and chamber music, Pilates, and other events at the Ripley Arts Centre, and we have Zeenat's regular affirmation. We reflect on the Bowie week at Bromley Picturehouse cinema and the showing of the new Bowie film, Moonage Daydream.

Aimee and Jaya join us from the Workspace, and as our guests they sparkle as they read out Zeenat's regular affirmation. and provide the closing 'buzz for the episode', as well as starting rumours of their doing another charity run.... Fellow guest Chandra Sharma of Elmcroft Business Services talks about his own upcoming Macmillan coffee morning - in Swanley on Wednesday 28th September. Aimee and Jaya refer to the numerous donations received for their event from local businesses including Wells Flowers, Dr Paw Paw; The Orpington Record Store and Cafe; Bromley Picturehouse cinema; Zeenat herself; and the Shampan restaurant.
Bromley Arts Festival and artwork at the Ripley Arts Centre are mentioned, as are Community Links Bromley and the CASPA Cafe.
